The media, I believe, promotes violence to a harmful degree.
it glamorizes and idealizes violence as something that is an normal answer to a
wrongdoing or really just about any situation. Media even makes violence funny!
Examples are in the cartoons we used to watch when we were small, “Bugs Bunny,
Tom and Jerry, and Courage the Cowardly Dog.” It was only when I got older did I
realize how much violence I was exposed to. Not to mention the shows and movies
my dad seemed to love; they all had some sort of violent aspect which was portrayed
as idealistic and agreeable action in the made-up situation. By encouraging or
idealizing violence through media and arts to the youth of our nation; we are desensitizing
them to the real atrocities of the world. We are exposing them to false pain
and hurt, thus making them, slowly, yet surely, immune to real emotion and
feeling towards others.
